Rick Perry, reports the Austin American-Statesman. The regents had been considering plans to raise tuition for in-state students at UT-Austin, as well as eight other UT system campuses. In lieu of those proposed tuition hikes, the regents will now try to draw money from the Permanent University Fund, a state-supported endowment with billions of dollars available for higher education.
